Course overview

The CMI Being a Leader assessment is concerned with leadership skills and securing team commitment. It is one of the two courses you are required to complete in order to receive your CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership. With this qualification, you are well on your way to become a Chartered Manager.

This course consists of three separate tasks which must all be completed in order to be successful. There is also a reflective piece which must be submitted.

1
The first task is concerned with external influences and their impact on the culture and values of an organisation; in particular social conscience and the global business environment. Scholars are required to think about how the need to balance legal and ethical requirements as well as how these external factors influence the way they lead themselves and their team.

2
Task Two asks scholars to demonstrate their understanding of different leadership styles and to provide examples from their experience of how adopting different styles can be helpful in addressing current issues such as globalisation and corporate responsibility.

3
The third task asks scholars to explain how they would achieve a professional culture within their organisation and develop rapport and trust among their staff.
