Extensive research has found that over half of leadership decisions fail due to inadequate problem framing or premature solution closure. However, using social processes such as increasing employee participation in decisions in order to foster implementation succeed more than 80% of the time. This programme shows you how to make more effective leadership decisions by involving employees appropriately in those decisions. Inclusions are:
Based on decades of research, the DMFL tool involves participants selecting their preferred leadership style in 30 short test cases. Your choices include: Decide, Consult Individually, Consult Group, Facilitate or Delegate. Your answers are compared against the DMFL database of over 200,000 leaders and a normative model developed by Professor Vroom.
You receive a personalised report comparing your choices with peers, a global comparison group and the normative model which predicts the consequences of each choice based on available scientific evidence. The normative model enables you to evaluate your decisions in terms of effectiveness, quality, implementation, time efficiency, and likelihood of fostering development among team members.
A recorded webinar provides further insights on how to interpret your report so you can better understand where your decisions are appropriate compared to your peers, to others and against the normative model. A live group debrief also provides you with the opportunity to ask specific questions about your report.
A group coaching session is scheduled six months after the report has been issued so that you are able to share your experiences with your progress in changing your leadership style choices. You have the opportunity to receive additional coaching on how best to continue improving your decision making effectiveness.
I incorporate Professor Vroom’s Decision Making for Leaders (DMFL) assessment at every opportunity in my consulting work with executives and their teams. DMFL provides not only a conceptual framework that is easily grasped but moreover it provides a simple yet powerful system that decision makers can immediately implement to be more effective.

I have been using Decision Making for Leaders in my course on leading teams for the past five years. MBA students find the assessment very useful in helping them better understand how to decide who should decide. The personalised report particularly helps them understand these factors as well as making them aware of which factors they may have overlooked.

Supported by Social Cognitive Theory, our programmes and insight tools increase self-awareness, the building block to boost your sense of personal agency and control. Your leadership and management status quo then shifts, propelling you forward.
Only through self-reflection are we able to achieve the self-regulation necessary for self-actualisation. We promote self-reflection by embedding a private digital learning journal in our courses, our self-assessments and our insight tool reports and debriefs.
To help you feel better supported and develop your self-confidence as leaders, our programmes include the opportunity to share your ideas and reflections and workplace application with your peers in our social learning area, in webinars or group consultations.
The activities, webinars, pulse checks and consultations used in our programmes aid long-term behaviour change by engaging the brain and reinforcing learning. They are drawn from our learnings which have been gained over 50 years of business and education experience.
