The Reflective Leader Course includes 3 Sections: Self Leadership, Team Leadership and Organisation Leadership and includes videos, reflective questions and activities for you to apply in the workplace.
Self Leadership provides contemporary insights on leadership styles so you can master the art of leading yourself and improve your effectiveness when you lead others. You will hear from experts, reflect on your own experiences and share your thoughts with other learners. The first module of this course focuses on self-awareness. You will learn how the process of identifying your personal idiosyncrasies and develop a deeper understanding of the characteristics that inform your leadership style. This is a critical step to improve your effectiveness and influence as a leader. You will explore a range of leadership styles and hear from experts in the areas of authentic and empowering leadership. Through this process you will improve your understanding on how helping people find their purpose delivers superior results compared to forcing subordinates to be loyal followers. We have curated content from Bev James, Bill George, Lars Sudmann, John Kotter and Ken Blanchard, all aimed at challenging your views on what makes a great leader. You will have an opportunity to share your own leadership story and to explore the important events that define how you lead and to compare this with other leadership frameworks. We also explore how recognising the difference between leading and managing can help you become more effective in your role. Finally, you will look at how your leadership style can be adapted to suit changing circumstances and how learning to do this will assist you as you lead today.
In Team Leadership you will learn how creating the right team culture, adapting your leadership style and linking your team goals to organisational objectives are crucial elements of helping you lead effectively. In Modules 2 and 3 the focus will be on different leadership styles and how to become more effective at leading your team through developing professionalism, trust and respect. You will explore how creating a “one team” culture by unifying core values and behaviours regardless of geographic, demographic or hierarchical differences will improve team performance. The importance of striving and thriving teams will be emphasised to help you become better at engaging your people. Finally, by thinking about what you’ve learned in the context of your experiences you can apply your new knowledge to your role and discuss your observations with your peers.
Leadership is about resilience, courage and attitude. It is about inspiring and empowering others to perform well and achieve objectives as well as inculcating a culture and mindset which thinks proactively and takes responsibility. In Organisation Leadership we help you look at life from differing perspectives. You learn how to deal with the challenges you face in exercising leadership due to conflicting pressures from those you manage as well as from those in more senior positions. We explore the internal issues impacting the creation of a cohesive and empowering culture within your organisation and draw on theories as well as leadership practices. We also introduce you to the many external influences impacting you and your organisation so you can view leadership from a more strategic perspective.
